Arpeggios can add a new dimension to any guitarist's arsenal. Try playing the exercises below to develop your arpeggio skills. Exercise #1 Audio Clip: Tab: E---------0-----------0-----------0---------0 B-------1-----------1-----------1---------1-- G-----0-----------0-----------0---------0---- D--------------------------------------------- A-3-----------3-----------3---------3--------- E------------------------------------------------ Exercise #2 Once you have that down, try changing the order in which you pluck the strings. The left hand remains the same, but the right hand picks the chord figuration using a different pattern. Try the exercise below. Audio Clip: Tab: E--------0--------0--------0--------0 B----1--------1--------1--------1---- G------0--------0--------0--------0-- D------------------------------------ A--3--------3--------3--------3------ E------------------------------------ Exercise #3 Finally, try integrating chord changes while plucking the notes of a chord individually and out of direct order. See the tablature below. Audio Clip: Tab: E-----------0--------1---------3 B------1---------1--------3----- G--------0---------2--------0--- D--------------3----------------- A--3----------------------------- E-----------------------3-------- Got Something to Say?
