distortion! ay help meh out

hey fellow guitarists... i hope you guys are familiar with distortion pedals...

ummmm i noticed all the knobs and stuff...

i try to get the most metal sound out of it but i cant get it right...

i have a lyon distortion pedal and it has level, low, high, gain knobs on it and i usually turn the gain all the up, and then the level half way...

and turn my volume all the way up on my guitar and amp...

and its ok but... is there any other like ways to get a metal sound?

because well... i might need to get a different pedal...

so any suggestions on different pedals... i might also like more of a death metal sound...

im into that shizzle so....

thanks alot guys!

well, sry, i didnt really understand what exactly your problem is, but you may have to set the equalizer.

you said you have Level, Gain, Low, Mid and a Hi knob?

well, i for metal you could use very much low, very less mid and about 3/4 high.
i guess gain and level are for your own prefernce.

I am using a Metal Core -like setting at the moment, very much low and high and very less mid, of course with nearly full distortion. (Bandit rules distortions! ^^)

i don't know your pedal (the only pedal i know is Boss ME50 or sth like this, and i dont know much about it xD), but maybe the level knob is for the type of distortion, so for example i have 3 types: hi-gain, modern and vintage. normally i am using modern.

i hope i could help somehow... ^^"
