It might be a good idea to start with the acoustic and if you feel you are getting somewhere with it then get an electric also,by that i mean have both.
Possibly an electric/acoustic may be the way to go.From what i have read in articles starter packs aren't the best thing to buy, maybe spending your budget on a good acoustic alone could be something to think about and get the other things seperately at a later date. Although i might be completely wrong at least its something to think about. Hope this was useful. |

If you are looking for a good starter pack(electric)...the one I got was from target. Its a fender starcaster, the pack comes with an amp, softcover bag, extra strings, a tuner, and of course the guitar itself. This is great for me right now because i am beginning and also have an acoustic. I dont have the exact link, its in stores, you can also search Welcome to Target
hope this helps |

I started out with, and still prefer to play, an acoustic, after a while struggling with barre chords i bought an electric and it is much easier to play barre chords on.
I think it depends on what you want to play, i like folk,so the acoustic is best for what i like to play, it sounds to me with your musical interest an electric would be better, but thats just my opinion, in the end it's up to you. |

If your going for an acoustic get a Yamaha. Got a mate with an Yamaha F310 (£79 on gak), ive played a few in a similar price range (staggs etc) and the Yamaha tops them. For an extra £20 you can pick up an Yamaha F370. Ive got an epiphone les paul standard which I rarely play anymore, just my humming bird knock off by Yamaha from the mid 70s. Ive read Gibson even filed a law suit against Yamaha over their knock off's. ![]() Make sure you pick up a cheapo electric tuner as well. Edit: replying to a post from 2006 ![]() |

I'd say [You can look at my before u buy a guitar lesson] Umm, since i wrote that lesson, I think you should burn the packs. I'm pretty sure these guitars will suit you well.... a Les Paul or a Fender Stratocaster. Gibson is great if you have the $$$ They can get super pricey. Fenders are so-so. They are pretty affordable. The necks are shit, [bolt-on] but unless you have tiny hands like I do, it shouldn't bother you much. The red hot chili peppers guitarist uses a strat. Jimmy page of led zepplin has a signiture les paul somewhere. and plus, you like oldies. Those two brands were HUGE back then! But you should always pick it up before you buy it. Don't rely on another kid to do it for you lol (Yeah, Im 13) Have funn! |

well...acoustics are harder to play, so if you stuck with your acoustic and got good at it just imagine how well you'd be able to play on an electric,
or you could go and return your acoustic and buy one of those electric started kits and jam on that, and then if you find you like playing guitar, save up and buy a better guitar/ amp and such. i would personally go buy one of those electric guitar starter kits.. ...And happy birthday dude ![]() |
