I have this problem a lot too. But what is usual the problem is that I'm not pushing down the string far enough. Make sure it is well pressed against the fretboard. It might hurt trying to push it down that far, but you'll get used to it.

And if that doesn't help it, then maybe it is tuned wrong, or you might need a new string. Hopefully that will help you.
