First, I don't know more of it myself but I figured out two things. First, you just not do the same barre chords, wich means that with a simple barre chords like F (1-1-2-3-3-1) you can manage to make a B wich is
(1-2-3-3-1-x), so you see that you can manage to make tons and tons of barre chords with a simple F. And two, even though you just keep the same position, if you move up or down, it won't sound the same, so since it's not the same sound, it's not the same root and etc... so it makes a new chord... I'm not sure if you understand but you'd rather go and see the page on acto guitar, especially the video.
So, sorry if I'm just a lost shit
